Week 5
Behind the mask
I have found the mask I plan to use for “the masked man”, the mask is basically all leather and medieval looking, I have looked at hundreds of masks over the past few weeks and found I kept going back to this one, any steel or aluminum masks I found were made for masquerades or covered the whole head, which is something I would not enjoy using. I am thinking I may make the films scenes quite dramatic; involving death, violence; yet also include the comic influenced girl to bring a little light into the video. My main view on the film is to make the audience think, as I am not quite explaining a story, I plan to have many different elements in the film, to leave the audience thinking and wondering what is next, nothing expected. Originally I wanted the masked man to be seen as a more sinister character, like an anti-hero, but I’m changing my mind slightly to a more old cop type attitude, in a way he has come in terms to realize no matter how many criminals come, there will always be more, unlike the girl who mainly wants to help people not fight crime, but more or less rescue people, the complete opposite attitude. It will be tricky to pull this view off, I will most likely just give the audience the hint that she is more light hearted, easy going.
Basic Idea
In the last week I have basically been coming up with ideas for my project. My main idea was to have a comic book themed film. The film will focus on a young girl and her influence on comics and superheroes. The film will also display another character discussing his views as a “Super hero” (although may come across as rather villainous) to an unknown audience. The film will contain small scenes of television shows, comic book strips, possibly violent scenes. I hope to display music within the clips, unrelated to the actions in the clips, yet related to the theme, comics/superheroes/crime fighting. I am trying to display the film similar to a comic book and so will contain short narrating, similar to yellow boxes displayed in comic books.
